Meares on road back

FORMER Gracemere champion cyclist Anna Meares is on the comeback trail after a run-in with a truck.

Meares will join the Australian team at the World Cup round in Manchester, England, this weekend.

The reigning Olympic and World 500m time trial champion suffered some back soreness and stitches in her knee after a run-in with the truck in Adelaide in mid-October.

Meares contested last month's Sydney Cup event, her first racing since the world titles in March, collecting to bronze medals and a silver in the flying lap.

Still nursing a sore back, Meares next headed to the Oceania Games in New Zealand, winning the sprint.

Meares plans on returning home to Gracemere after Manchester before preparing for the Commonwealth Games.
