Meat Norm, he?s top sausage dog
MAKING sausages is not just a job for Norm Milner, it's a passion.
The Kent Street, Rockhampton, butcher has a few more awards to add to his wall after taking out first place in the gourmet section of the Central Queensland heat of the Queensland Sausage King Competition with his beef and mushroom sausages.
Mr Milner is now off to the state finals in Brisbane where he hopes to go one better after taking out second place last year.
He said he was always looking for new ideas to create unique and tasty snags.
"Some nights I'll be watching a chef on TV and I'll write down a few of the spices he is using and then I'll come to work the next day and try them out,'' he said.
Regular customer Mark McLachlan said he drove all the way across town to buy sausages from Mr Milner.
"They just melt in your mouth. When I drive to Brisbane I have to take three or four kilos down for rellies,'' he said.
