Melinda goes Tropic in style

ROCKHAMPTON'S Melinda Siegmeier could be the next Miss Hawaiian Tropic Australia 2006.

The 19-year-old Queensland Rail communications officer won the Gladstone heat of the swimsuit competition on Saturday night.

"I grew up modelling, dancing and performing so this is a great next step,'' the petite blonde, dressed pretty in pink, said yesterday.

Yeppoon's Clarissa Paul, 22, was second and The Morning Bulletin and Revive sales executive Tracey Sweeney, 19, came third.

Tracey, who is also Ms Siegmeier's business partner of Trinity Management, a promotional modelling management agency, said she was very proud and excited for her friend.

This is the second event of its kind both girls have entered. Melinda will compete against 23 other Australia regional winners at the Gold Coast in March for the chance to compete at the international competition in Las Vegas.
