Mitch gets a kick out of AFL final

By RACHAEL BORICH

CAPELLA'S Mitchell Loudon was running around his house, waving his Sydney Swans flag on Sunday after returning from the 2005 AFL grand final in Melbourne at the weekend.

Mitchell, 8, won the trip of a lifetime by simply registering with the 2005 Auskick program ? a group which introduces boys and girls aged between five and 12 years to Australian Football.

He was one of 12 Queenslanders selected for the whirlwind fourday trip.

And what did he love best?

"Going to the AFL Hall of Fame ? they had those X-Box things,'' Mitchell said.

Mitchell was accompanied by his dad Jim, who watched his first game of AFL.

"It was absolutely awesome,'' Jim said. "We went for the Swans because that's who Jacqui's (Jim's wife) mum supports.''

After arriving in Melbourne on the Thursday they attended a dinner with former Hawthorn great, and Auskick ambassador, Robert "Dipper'' DiPierdomenico where they were able to hold the AFL premiership cup.

The next day Mitchell joined the AFL grand final parade through the city and then it was on to the MCG to visit the Hall of Fame ? and they also managed to catch Delta Goodrem's pre-match entertainment rehearsal.

Mitchell is already hoping he can win this trip again next year.
