Motor traders day clocks up three decades

ROCKHAMPTON'S golf fans are ready to hit the course in the name of a good cause.

The annual Rockhampton Motor Traders Golf Day celebrates its 30th year when it hits off at the Yeppoon Golf Club from 10am on Thursday.

All proceeds will support Endeavour services in Rockhampton. Over the past 30 years the day has raised more than $150,000 for Endeavour.

Bob Melaney organised the inaugural golf day with assistance from his fellow Rockhampton motor dealers, Ron McCamley and Dick MacNevin.

Driving Endeavour's involvement was Bill Woolcock, the for- mer Endeavour Foundation board chairman in Rockhampton.

Organising this year's golf day are Greg Diplock, John Suthers, Kevin Downing, Ken Leifels and Joe Ryan.

Also supporting the day as this year's guest of honour is Seven Queensland sports presenter Pat Welsh.

Organisers are expecting between 120 to 150 starters for this year's event which once again is driving towards a worthy cause.

Endeavour is the largest nongovernment organisation in Australia supporting people with an intellectual disability.

The organisation supports about 3000 people.
