Near-miss for driver in slingshot attack

? RON WATSON has had some scary moments in the eight years he has been working as a Rockhampton taxi driver, but nothing quite com- pares to last Saturday morning.

Mr Watson was driving a passen- ger along Musgrave Street in the early hours when his maxi taxi was hit with two projectiles, believed to have been fired from a slingshot.

Thankfully the projectiles missed the van's windows, leaving signifi- cant dents in the van's chassis instead.

One hit just centimetres from Mr Watson's head. "Basically, I was about four inches from death,'' he said.
