New hoop runs hot

By TONY MCMAHON ? BOOM Sunshine Coast apprentice jockey Rachel Mason continued her recent winning streak with three winners at her first day of race riding in Rockhampton yesterday.

Mason has been ablaze with Brisbane winners for weeks now. Yesterday she scored on Final Demand ($1.60) for Brisbane trainer Neil Boyle while takingout a double on Radar Alert ($4.20) and Happy Spot ($1.70) for premier Rockhampton mentor John Wigginton.

In all three rides Mason displayed nous in settling her mounts in prominent positions before riding them out strongly to the finish.

Senior Rockhampton jockey Dennis Whitmore gave two first-rate front running rides to win on Lyle Rowe's Pacific Sea ($7.00) and Clem Jackson's Lion Hunter filly Follow My Dreams ($4.40).

The latter was particularly impressive and trainer Clem Jackson has high hopes for Follow My Dreams.

Follow My Dreams ran a sensational 57.85 seconds in winning the $14,700 Patlaw Securities Maiden (1000m) and is already shaping up as a strong candidate for the series final next month.
