New store cranks up battle for customers

Reports by FRAZER PEARCE

THE battle for your dollar is about to be cranked up as IGA takes on the supermarket giants with its new, state-of-the-art store in North Rockhampton.

The large complex on Farm Street is opening on August 9 and yesterday co-owner Steve Duggan said they were well placed (in a major residential growth corridor) to grab a share of the Rockhampton and Capricorn Coast shopping market.

"We will be more than competitive,'' he said. "We are very excited with the growth potential of North Rockhampton and we are looking to be an integral part of that growth.''

He said his son, Nick Duggan, found the supermarket site two years ago and plans to open the largest IGA store in Queensland began then.

The supermarket will feature IGA's first venture into speciality poultry and health foods sections.
