Nuttall?s canker visit welcomed

THE group helping spearhead community outcry about governments' dealings with Emerald over citrus canker welcomed the visit from new Primaries Industries Minister Gordon Nuttall on Wednesday.

Fitzroy Basin Food and Fibre spokesman Adam Loch said this should definitely encourage Emerald locals to continue calling for fair treatment for the growers.

"Finally someone in the government cares enough to come up here,'' he said.

Mr Loch said Mr Nuttall seemed to fully understand the time imperative integral to providing certainty and confidence for growers.
