Passion now fun business

ROCKHAMPTON'S Francis Craig was spending all but two days a week at the Squash World centre so why not take over ownership of the business?

Francis plays squash, as does her husband, Mark, and their sons, Nicholas, 16, Stuart, 14, Connor, 13, and Alexander, 11.

At 2.30pm on Tuesday Francis became Squash World's new owner, replacing Maree Klein-hanss who spent just over 11 years at the centre.

Maree leaves with fond memories of the three Queensland Opens the centre hosted and the friendships.

Squash World was a home to Maree and her children, which include Australian squash representative Peta Hughes.

A parting gift included Maree receiving a life membership on December 23.

Francis is ready to step up to the challenge and is grateful forMaree's efforts over the year.

"She's gone above and beyond the call of duty and supported the juniors to the hilt,'' she said.

Francis said it would be hard to replace Maree, but there would be no big changes.

"There will be some differences, but differences don't have to be bad,'' Francis said.
