Players shoot to new challenges

ROCKHAMPTON junior basketball teams are gearing up for a new challenge for the upcoming representative season.

Rockhampton will join both the Central Queensland and Top of the North tournaments starting in Rockhampton next month.

For the first time, all age groups, from under-12 to under18, have been accepted to play in the Top of the North event. Rockhampton teams will join Mackay, Townsville, Cairns and Mulgrave Coast in the new-look competition.

In preparation for next year's State Classics, Rockhampton will also play Cap Coast, Bundaberg, Gladstone and Hervey Bay for the Central Queensland title.

Rockhampton's under-18 boys and girls teams host the opening round at Hegvold Stadium on October 8 and 9.

Players return to the Hegvold Stadium court on Sunday for representative trials.
