Police hunt brutal home invader

POLICE are hunting this man after a violent home invasion in Rockhampton.

A 51-year-old Denison Street resident had his cheekbone fractured and was robbed of $700 when a stranger burst into his home looking for someone else and assaulted him on Friday night.

Police said the victim had been sitting at his dining room table about 8.30pm when a man, believed to be in his 20s, entered the home through an open back door.

The complainant was punched in the face several times.

While he was being assaulted it is believed another person removed his wallet from his back shorts pocket.

The wallet also contained personal cards.

The injured man was taken to Rockhampton Hospital for X-rays and later released.

He also sustained bruising and swelling to his face.

Rockhampton CIB plainclothes Constable Bronagh Gillespie said the victim was able to provide police with a description of his attacker.

"He was pinned to the ground when his wallet was removed and because of his position he didn't see anyone else,'' she said.

Constable Gillespie said the victim knew the person his attacker was looking for.

That man did not reside at the house.

Anyone with information should call Rockhampton CIB on 4932?1518 or Crime Stoppers on 1800?333?000.
