Police mourn death of respected officer

ROCKHAMPTON police are in mourning following the death of Senior Constable Michelle Maree Jaques, of North Rockhampton, yesterday.

Senior Constable Jaques, 45, died of a heart attack at about 2am.

She had experienced complications earlier on Monday and later died while being taken from Rockhampton Hospital to the airport for a flight to Brisbane for further treatment.

Inspector David Scott said she would be sadly missed. "She touched a lot of people in Rockhampton ? she was well respected,'' he said.

Senior Constable Jaques had worked as an officer for the past 12 years, most recently in communications, and had always been active with Crime Stoppers and crime prevention.
