Police uncover one of the stolen rifles

ONE of six guns stolen from a Yeppoon rural property has been found and a man charged with its theft.

A Norica rifle, IMI shotgun, Husqvarna rifle, Shanghai rifle, CBC shotgun and Winchester rifle were taken from a metal cabinet gun safe at an Adelaide Park Road home between 8am and 3pm on Wednesday.

Yeppoon Police found the Husqvarna rifle in a Yeppoon house along with 102 grams of cannabis, two 50cm cannabis plants and jewellery.

Yesterday morning a 30year-old Yeppoon man was found at Blackwater and taken to Rockhampton watch house. Yeppoon Criminal Investigation Branch officer-in-charge Detective Sergeant Andrew Broadfoot said the police had charged him with two counts of break and enter as well as stealing and drug charges.

"The break and enters are for one, at the Adelaide Park Road address, and one at the Rockhampton-Yeppoon Road,'' he said.

"We are making all efforts to try and recover the remaining guns.''

The Yeppoon man will appear at Rockhampton Magistrates Court this morning and is expected to be remanded in custody until Monday.

Anyone with any information about the remaining missing guns should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800?333?000 or Yeppoon CIB on 4939?5107.
