Pye family rides to state success

ALTON Downs' talented Pye siblings are on the road to success.

Carly-Mae, 17, Emma-Rose, 15, Daniel, 13, and Holly-Jo, 11, have excelled at this year's Queensland Interschool Equestrian Championships at Warwick.

Holly-Jo, who attends Ridgelands Primary School, won the Banks Family Trophy for the second year in a row ? recording the highest overall results over the five disciplines: eventing, show horse, dressage, combined training and showjumping, in the primary schools division.

Carly-Mae, a year 12 student at the Rockhampton Grammar School, was awarded the Brett Family Trophy, recording the highest overall results over the five disciplines in the secondary schools division.

Rockhampton Grammar School won the Champion Aggregate School trophy for the third year with the team of Carly-Mae, Emma-Rose and Daniel, Lauren and Hayley Lewthwaite.

The championships involved more than 200 riders representing 74 schools throughout Queensland. This is quite an achievement given all who rode had to attain qualifying performances.
