Radio promotes cheaper petrol

BUMPER to bumper lineups were expected outside a Rockhampton petrol station today.
The locally owned service station, CQ Petroleum dropped its unleaded fuel price to $107.8 a litre from 7am-9am today.
The service station was able to do this after 4RO's morning crew offered a petrol station $1000 worth of free advertising if it dropped its price the lowest.
"We did this to make the federal government and oil companies aware that the price is ridiculous,'' said Daniel Smith, an announcer for 4RO's morning crew.
"And to give people a bit of a break.''
The station also kicked in one cent a litre to help lower the price, he said.
Kathy Hall, site supervisor for CQ Petroleum Aquatic Place, said they would lose money from the price drop.
"We are a local company and do not get any support from major oil companies,'' she said.
