Red card but Wanderers in

CQU Wanderers will be without Michael Lawrence when they meet Southside United in the CQ League A1 men's grand final at Rockhampton's Kalka Shades this Saturday.

Lawrence was red-carded, and consequently suspended for two games, in Wanderers' 10-3 win over Gladstone club Meteors on Saturday at Kalka Shades.

Tempers flared with about 15 minutes of play remaining resulting in both Lawrence and Meteors' Darren Heard being sent from the field.

Wanderers coach Shane Johnson said they were unsure if they would appeal the decision.

Johnson said the aim was to go out in the first half and get the game over and done with.

The game plan worked perfectly with Wanderers leading 61 at half-time.

"They're getting back what they're putting in at training,'' Johnson said.

Southside United also made it comfortably through to the title decider after a 5-0 win over Park Avenue Brothers. In the A1 women's grand final this Saturday, CQU Wanderers face Park Avenue Brothers.

The women's game is at 4.30pm and the men's at 6.30pm.
