Red pennants resume in August

YEPPOON and North Rockhampton will have to wait until August to resume their battle for red pennants honours in this year's Central Queensland District Ladies Bowling Association pennants competition.

After last week's wash-out, the red pennants competition leaders will meet in the final round on August 16.

Both clubs are locked on eight match points and five rink points, with Yeppoon boasting a superior margin.

Rain once again played havoc with this week's action. The blue pennants clash between North Rockhampton and Emu Park yesterday was cancelled.

The final round match will not have an impact on the final standings, with Diggers already crowned champions.

There are two games left in the purple pennants, but the Diggers outfit has also secured the title.

Diggers, who lead North Rockhampton by just four match points, still have two games up their sleeves against the bottomplaced Yeppoon and North Rockhampton.

They will play Yeppoon on August 16, but a date for their match against North Rockhampton is yet to be confirmed. Meanwhile, defending champions Yeppoon are preparing to host this year's Keppel Coast Shield.

The annual fours carnival, which has attracted 14 teams, hits the greens on July 11.

PENNANTS UPDATE Purple: Diggers 16; North Rockhampton 12; Rockhampton 8, Yeppoon 4.Blue: Diggers 16; Emu Park 4, North Rockhampton 0. Red: Yeppoon 8, North Rockhampton 8, Diggers 4.
