GLADSTONE'S Matthew Inwood and Michael Heymer made a strong start for the Capricornia schoolboys cricket team at the 14 years State Championships in Brisbane on the weekend.

Capricornia is still to post a win after drawing with Darling Downs in a rain-interrupted match yesterday and Saturday's loss to Metropolitan East.

Inwood, of Gladstone State High School, claimed 4/23 (10 overs) in the Darling Downs innings of 9/195 (50 overs) and was well supported by Heymer, of Toolooa, with 3/35 off 10 overs).

Capricornia were 4/64 (25 overs) when rain stopped play.

On Saturday Inwood and Heymer were again the main destroyers with 3/16 (10 overs) and 3/17 (5 overs) respectively.

Metropolitan East made 9/199 with Capricornia bundled out for 78.
