Rose in sight of future athletic targets

? MAKING the trek up Mount Archer three times a week has guided Rockhampton athlete Elwyn Rose to more success.

Rose, 60, has returned home with a swag of medals from last weekend's Maryborough Maters Games.

The former Moura competi- tor won six gold ? triple jump, high jump, 400m, 800m, 1500m and 5000m ? in the 60-64 years men's division.

Rose, who has completed the gruelling Hawaiian ironman five times, also collected six silver medals in the 100m, 200m, long jump, shot put, dis- cus and javelin events.

Rose now has his sights on next year's Queensland Mas- ters Games in Brisbane, in March, before qualifying for another Hawaiian ironman at the Australian titles at Port Macquarie in April.
