Selectors announce CQ representatives

CENTRAL Queensland's junior cricketers are gearing up for the upcoming State titles following the selection of teams for the under-12 to under-16 divisions.

The selections for under-12 to 15 were held at Rockhampton's Kalka Shades on Sunday involving players from Rockhampton, Gladstone, Central Highlands and Biloela.

But the involvement of eight players in the North Queensland Championships in Mackay on Saturday and Sunday forced the selection of the under-16 team to be carried out using a telephone hook-up.

The team was selected based on last season's intra-association games, the last weekend of trials and form. Rockhampton players dominated the selections, being well represented across all age divisions.

Gladstone bowler Rowan Murray followed up on his selection in the North Queensland under- 17 side on the weekend by securing a place in the CQ under-16 team.

Rockhampton's Preston White had similar success with his selection in the team coming on top of his strong showing in the CQ under-17 team.

This year's State championships start from December 12 and are being staged at: Gold Coast (under- 12), Ipswich (under-13), Charters Towers (under-14), Bundaberg (under-15) and Brisbane (under-16).
