Shipard gets second Kookaburras call-up



? CAPRICORNIA'S Craig Shipard has received his second Country Kookaburras guernsey.

The talented BITS Saints ruckman will join the Kookaburras under-16 team at next week's State championships in Brisbane.

Shipard, 16, was the sole Capricornia player to gain selection following this week's Country championships in Cairns.

Capricornia finished fifth overall after an eight-point win over Mackay in their play-off match on Monday.

Papua New Guinea were crowned champions with victory over Cairns in the final.

Shipard, who first represented the Kookaburras in the under-14 ranks, will enter camp in Brisbane next Thursday.

The Kookaburras play Met East Bushrangers in a practice game the next day before their State title campaign begins against the Sunshine Coast Power on May 7.

Meanwhile, North Rockhampton State High School and Tannum Sands State High School will clash in the Brisbane Lions Cup final for the Central Queensland region at Rockhampton's Stenlake Park today.

The game starts at 4pm.
