Simon steals senior start



LEADING Central Queensland motocross rider Simon Thompson has made a winning start to the 2006 season.

Thompson, from The Caves, won the senior lites and open divisions at the Rockhampton and District Motocross Club's opening club day of the year at Six Mile Reserve on Sunday.

Visiting riders among the 160 nominations also im- pressed.

Yeppoon's Ty and Blair Pearce won their respective 65cc division 1 7-10 years and 65cc division 2 10-13 years races.

Gladstone's Jacob Wright was first across the finish line in the mini lites 85cc 9-12 years class while Blackwater's Jake Gook was too quick in the mini lites 85cc 12-16 years class.

Rockhampton's Beau Dargel had a win in the junior lites 13-15 years and Travis Freeman was the quickest in the novice (clubman) under33 years. The next club day is on April 2.
