Southside has division mettle

A GROUP of Southside United soccer players might still be at school, but they are fast graduating in the Capricornia Soccer League first division league this season.

Alden Gregory, Colin Manitzky and Peter Jasperson will all be called on for big games when Southside United face league leaders Frenchville at Ryan Park tonight.

They will confront a more experienced team, which includes numerous players that Southside coach Will Burns once coached during his Frenchville days, but all three young players were blooded for this standard last year.

"We just have to keep picking up points,'' Southside coach Will Burns said.

Southside are vying with Clinton and Nerimbera for a finals start. Burns is uncertain whether Aaron Jasperson will take the field.

Jasperson, who only returned from a knee injury mid-season, sat out last weekend after twinging his knee again.

Round 16 (July 23) ? Cap Coast v Bluebirds United (Apex Park), Southside United v Frenchville (Jardine Park), Parkana v Clinton (Parkana), Nerimbera Brothers v CQU Berserker (Pilbeam Park), Central v BITS (Central).

Points ? Frenchville 37, CQU Berserker 32, Clinton 25, Nerimbera Brothers 24, Southside United 23, BITS 19, Cap Coast 14, Bluebirds United 14, Central 8, Parkana 4.
