Sprocket rocket Rhys lines up for BMX title

ROCKHAMPTON'S Rhys Jones is setting the wheels in motion for a title assault and cash bonanza on his home track this weekend.

Not even yesterday's wet weather failed to dampen the 15-year-old's preparations for the Rockhampton BMX Club's annual Capricorn Two-Day Carnival.

From sprockets to masters, Jones is one of 190 riders expected to hit the Hollingsworth Street race complex, starting on Saturday afternoon.

There will be a cash incentive for competitors in the 14 years and over class, with $400 in prizemoney on the line.

The popular mountain bikes are also set to make their mark for the first time this year.

Racing starts at 3.30pm on Saturday and 9am on Sunday.
