Stabbing accused becomes a victim
BUSTER Geissmann became the victim of the same charges he still faces in a Rockhampton court, after he was repeatedly slashed and cut with a pair of scissors on Friday night.
The 18-year-old Yeppoon man appeared in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Friday for allegedly stabbing one man, cutting another and striking a third with a heavy stick.
Later that same evening, Mr Geissmann was slashed five times inside an Old Rockhampton Road residence by a man police are still searching for.
Mr Geissmann was taken to the Yeppoon Hospital with lacerations to his neck and torso.
Yeppoon CIB Detective Sergeant Andrew Broadfoot said several people had been drinking in the Yeppoon unit when a fight erupted between Mr Geissmann and the offender.
"The altercation quickly became physical,'' he said.
"We believe we know who the offender is and are making inquiries to locate him.''
This stabbing adds to a spate of violent crime occurring along the Coast.
Last week, in an unrelated incident at Keppel Sands, a 19-yearold man was also rushed to hospital after receiving numerous blows to the body and head with a large wooden stick.
A 24-year old man was later charged.
But Sergeant Broadfoot said the majority of these offences were of a domestic nature.
"They are the type of assaults where people have been drinking,'' he said.
