Students romp in the park

CENTRAL Queensland University students yesterday put the finishing touches on to a cardboard maze created for Under 8s Week.

The maze is one of several planned activities for the Romp in the Park celebrations at the Rockhampton Botanic Gardens from 9am1pm today.

"The whole theme is to celebrate health and well-being,'' said CQU student Erin Holloway.

"The children use all five senses going through the maze.''

Art and photograph exhibitions produced by children will also be a part of the Under 8s Week celebrations.

The CQU students, who are completing their degree in learning management, had to organise all of the activities for the Romp in the Park celebrations.

"It was a tough assignment, but it was really fun too,'' Ms Holloway said.

"We had a lot of fun putting together the maze, it brought us back to our childhood.''

Every year students from CQU organise the Under 8s Week activities in Rockhampton.

"It is the last assignment they do before they graduate,'' said Naomi Johns, administration officer.

"The assignment involves a lot of people beyond the university ...
