Superstars series revs into top gear

THE V8 Superstars series is revving into top gear as top line performance drivers are being confirmed for the dinner.

Event organiser Gavin Dicinoski said top-line drivers were confirmed as coming to Gladstone for the dinner and more were yet to be confirmed.

"Steve Ellery, Tony D'Alberto and David Besnard are just the start of the drivers confirmed to be attending,'' Mr Dicinoski said.

Steve Ellery is a well known V8 Supercar driver who previously drove for the Triple 8 Ford Betta Electrical Car and came third at Bathurst last year.

D'Alberto has just raced in development series level 2 and finished top of all Holden drivers for that grade.

"Tony is absolutely raring to go,'' Mr Dicinoski said.

The final driver so far is David Besnard, an up-and-coming driver who has several V8 victories under his belt.

Limited to how often they can train, the V8 Supercar drivers use go-karts to help keep their skills finely tuned.

"To keep race fit, most drivers will use go-karts to help eye-hand co-ordination,'' Mr Dicinoski said.
