Sydney consortium buys hospital land

THE former St John's Hospital site on Rockhampton's Victoria Parade has been sold to a Sydney-based consortium.

The sale is subject to normal conditions being met.

Last month, a spokesman for the former hospital's owner, Queensland Property Developments, told The Morning Bulletin that a major development, possibly incorporating four 10-storey towers (three of units and one for a hotel) was being planned for the site.

Yesterday, selling agent Dot Fechner, of Dot Fechner First National Real Estate, could not confirm future plans for the site.

"The number of towers is undecided at the moment,'' she said.

She did not disclose a selling price which the former owner said in May would be close to $4 million.

"I believe we've sold to the right developer,'' Ms Fechner said.

"This (development) will bring money and create a new lifestyle in the hub of Rockhampton.
