Tatnell revs up thrills for kids

AUSTRALIAN sprintcar champion Brooke Tatnell was the star attraction for the students at North Rockhampton Special School this month.

Tatnell, along with fellow sprintcar drivers Ben Atkinson and Matthew Reed, and World Series Sprintcars (WSS) CEO Wade Aunger, visited the school as a part of a WSS promotional activity.

Rockhampton Saloon Car Club speedway race director Dianne McKeiver said it was a great chance for the kids to meet some of their heroes.

"Some of the kids do go to the speedway, but to actually see the drivers up close was amazing for them,'' she said.

McKeiver said the drivers were more then happy to show off their cars and talk to the students about racing.

"I was really thrilled with them, they did it with grace and generosity, it wasn't just a gloss-over,'' she said.

The students were also given a demonstration of Tatnell's WSS pace truck.

The drivers were in town for round two of the Proton World Series Sprintcars Championship, which was won by Tatnell.
