Third bridge out of sight



IT may be time for Rockhampton residents to build a bridge and get over the idea of a third Fitzroy River crossing within the next two decades.

Despite a rapid increase in Rockhampton's traffic volume, the Department of Main Roads says a third bridge will not happen for a further 20 to 30 years.

A spokesman for the department said in the Rockhampton area, issues such as creating four lanes to Yeppoon and Gracemere would take priority before the third bridge over the Fitzroy River was necessary.
