This seafood fest has appeal

THE fastest prawn peeler in Central Queensland will be unveiled in Rockhampton thanks to Kele Bros' first Prawnfest tomorrow.

The 4R0-sponsored event held at the Kele Bros warehouse on Yaamba Road, is sure to be a treat for both competitors and bystanders.

The contest will pit six local people against the self-proclaimed king of prawn-peeling ? talkback host Jeff Goodwin.

"Our prawn loves his prawns,'' said Terry Blacker, 4R0 event organiser.

"We do not really know if he is a secret prawn peeler.'' Each contestant will have two minutes to peel and eat the most prawns.

The winner will receive a full leg of ham, 5kg of prawns, 1kg plum pudding, and a box of marinated barbecue prawns.

The runners-up will each get a Kele Bros Christmas surprise. Yet, if watching seven people frantically gorge themselves with prawns is not enough, the Prawnfest includes prawn tasting.

Between 10am and 1pm people will be able to sample and buy each type of prawn available in the market.

"There will be more than 20 varieties of prawns available to sample,'' he said.

"If you purchase $70 or more worth of any product Kele Bros will throw in a half kilogram of fresh prawns for free.''

If you would like to compete against Jeff Goodwin in the Peel and Eat contest call 4R0 between 8am and 10am today on 4922 7990 to be in the draw.
