Tyre shortages could put brakes on miners



THE latest threat to the smooth flow of coal out of the Bowen Basin to ports is a lack of tyres for large earthmoving trucks.

A worldwide shortage of the super large tyres could slow down the lo- cal coal industry.

General manager for open cut op- erations for Peabody Energy, Paul Davis, said the shortage has not af- fected their mine's production.
