University undefeated

By DARRYN NUFER ? COMPETITION front-runners University kept their undefeated record intact and picked up a valuable bonus point in their 33-7 win over Dawson Valley on Saturday.

The club could not have been more impressive during the opening three rounds of the 2005 Rockhampton and District Rugby Union A-grade season.

But despite moving nine points clear of Brothers on the ladder, University coach Brent Stephens was not getting carried away with the weekend's win at Moura.

"There's not much between (all of) the teams in the competition really,'' he said.

"It's still early days and everyone's still getting into their combinations.

"You take the bonus point whenever you can get it because come semi-final time it could be the difference.''

University stormed to a 19-0 halftime lead and despite having little possession in the opening stages of the second half, when Drovers John Wright crossed for a try, the visitors regrouped to run away with the game.

University unearthed a new talent with halfback Lachlan Wells earning praise from Stephens after a solid debut performance which included a try.

In the other round three game, Brothers defeated Frenchville Pioneers 19-14 at Rugby Park.
