Wanderer Horn gores rivals

WANDERERS sharp-shooter Angela Horn has confirmed her status as the player to watch in the build-up to this year's Rockhampton Netball Association Senior A division finals.

Horn was at her accurate best in Wanderers' thrilling 45-all draw with premiers Buckaneers Blades at Rockhampton's Jardine Park on Wednesday night.

The goal attack scored 31 goals out of 32 attempts in a standout performance for a Wanderers outfit gaining momentum.

Buckaneers led by three goals at the first break before a secondquarter burst gave Wanderers a 22-15 half-time lead.

Buckaneers reduced the gap to just two at three-quarter time and hit the front early in the last quarter, only for Wanderers to draw level. With only two rounds before the finals, Buckaneers and Wanderers are on track for a minor premiership shoot-out.

The defending champions face Pumas Midnight and Brothers Magenta while Wanderers meet Angels Saints and Midnight.

Unless there are major upsets, competition leaders Runaways Diamonds will drop to third place due to the bye in the final round.

Scores ? Wanderers 45 drew with Buckaneers Blades, Brothers Magenta 54 d Angels Saints 39, Runaways Diamonds d Pumas Midnight (via forfeit).

Points ? Runaways Diamonds 36 points (14 games), Wanderers 34 (13), Buckaneers Blades 34 (13), Pumas Midnight 27 (14), Brothers Crimson 23 (13), Brothers Magenta 21 (14), Angels Saints 14 (14).

Round 19 (August 10) ? Buckaneers Blades v Pumas Midnight, Wanderers v Angels Saints, Runaways Diamonds v Brothers Crimson, Brothers Magenta bye.
