Watts posts double victory

RISING Yeppoon golf star Boyd Watts continues to stake his claim for the top spot on the Central Queensland junior golf circuit.

Watts snared a double on the weekend, winning both Saturday's Capricorn Country Club junior boys' open title and Sunday's junior boys' open title at the Emu Park Golf Club.

This follows the 15-year-old's impressive amateur win at this month's Pro Am four-day event at Rydges Capricorn Resort.

Watts carded a 74-gross score on Saturday to win from Capricorn Country Club's Dean Bunt.

It was the same result at Emu Park on Sunday with Watts carding a winning score of 69 to land a clear win over Bunt (78).

In the open girls' division on the weekend, Capricorn Country Club's Jessica Jonassen found the winning touch on her home course, carding an 89 gross to win from Yeppoon's Katie Buttery.

The Yeppoon golfer struck back finding the winning edge at Emu Park on Sunday to card a 91-gross score and win from Calliope Country Club's Tabitha Holt (93).

Both junior opens attracted more than 100 starters.

Central Queensland's junior golfers next hit-off at the Rockhampton Junior Open Championship on Sunday.
