Williams speeds off with series

YEPPOON'S Leigh Williams officially crowned himself "the best in the household'' at the Rockhampton Showgrounds on Saturday night.

Williams, 24, continued his winning run to clinch round three of the Repco Auto Parts Super Sedan Series.

The in-form driver edged out his older brother, Matt, and Rockhampton's Bryan Owen to seal back-to-back victories in the Central Queensland series.

Rockhampton's Aaron Smithwick, racing in his new car, made a long-awaited return in the super stockers feature.

However, Smithwick was pipped on the line in his comeback race by fellow Rockhampton driver Danny Lennon. Blackwater's Craig Torr was third. In the fender benders, Darren Saunders, Rae Howkins and Michelle West produced a Rockhampton trifecta, while Gladstone's James Murphy won the AMCAs.

Racing returns to the Showgrounds on February 18 with the National Super Sedan Series roaring into Rockhampton.
