Winternationals warming up

CENTRAL Queensland drag racers are igniting their engines and ready to hit the track at the 38th Willowbank Winternationals near Ipswich.

A record 38 cars will contest the Supercharged Outlaws class with Rockhampton's Nathan Peirano, driving the Lexus Piranha Hot Rod, and Russell Mackay, in the All Hours Glass/Arnolds Tyre Centre Sainty powered Corvette, joining the hot field.

Daniel List is back in his junior dragster after competing in Sydney while his father Gavin lines up in the super street class.

Gracemere's fastest fireman Dave Ferricks will tackle a big field of modified racers in his Chev powered A modified dragster along with Craig Wesener in his 6 cylinder B modified dragster.

Australian pro stock motorcycle racer Daniel Peatey is chasing another Winternationals title and is locked in a tight points battle for the Andra Championship.

Also making the long haul in the pink pontiac is Craig Edwards.

The event has attracted a record breaking 552 entries with the nationals attracting drivers from across Australia. Racing starts today and finishes on Sunday.
