YEPPOON Hospital is moving ? but to where?
After teasing for weeks of a forthcoming announcement Health Minister Stephen Robertson yesterday confirmed a vacant greenfield site was his preferred location for a new Capricorn Coast hospital a few kilometres from the centre of Yeppoon. The State Government has made a formal offer for the land, but because of commercial confidentiality Mr Robertson said he could not disclose where the site was. He did however rule out a couple of the 11 sites that had been under consideration. "No, it's not the Yeppoon Railway Station site,'' he said. "No, it's not the (Tanby Road) quarry site. "It could be one of 700 potential sites on the Capricorn Coast.'' The announcement by Mr Robertson follows lengthy public discussion on the future of Capricorn Coast health services. Talks turned into heated debate in June after $13 million was allocated in this year's State Budget to redevelop the hospital at its current Anzac Parade site. n PAGE 5: Continues.
