Zoo hopes on Clancy

THE ROCKHAMPTON Zoo introduced its newest inhabitant on Saturday with a Koala Open Day. Clancy Junior (named after Queendland police mascot Constable Clancy) had his first day out at the zoo after being transferred here from Airlie Beach. The open day included activities such as face painting and included an appearance by Constable Clancy.

Zookeeper Wil Kemp said Clancy Junior would be used to start a breeding program at the zoo.

"Our only male koala died last winter so we've struck up a deal and exchanged Clancy Junior for one of our female koala's,'' he said.
