Cats stories more popular, but who can go past a dog video?

A DISCUSSION about cats versus dogs erupted in The Bulletin newsroom yesterday after hearing that cat stories are the most popular online, particularly those with videos.

But WIN TV reporter Ellie Sibson had captured a funny dog video, while she was on the way to a job, that stands up to the cat ones.

Christine McKee: Converted to cats - I'm a dog lover and used to think cats were boring.

That's until I was adopted by Dusty, who just wandered into my life.

Dusty was so boring he was entertaining, in a Garfield kind of way, and showed me unending love and devotion.

It broke my heart when he died from a snake bite last year.

To those who say cats are predators, you are right. But so are we. I am an advocate that all feline pets should be neutered by law, with registered breeders excepted.

Which do you prefer as a pet?

This poll ended on 28 February 2014.

Kara Paradies - Loyal to dogs - Only one animal has played a leading role in my life so far and she was a beautiful, fun-loving, loyal dog.

There's a reason dogs are known as man's best friend - they are more than a pet.

They are a companion, a comforter, an exercise buddy and a protector.

Some are even eyes for the blind, a farmer's right hand man or crime fighters.

I don't think I've ever met a cat that ticks all these boxes.

Plus, how many household cats have you seen who can sit on command? Roll over? Stay?

Not many is my guess.

Here is what people had to say yesterday on Facebook about Dogs Vs Cats as pets.
