Armed robbery near Clermont

POLICE have charged a 19-year-old man with armed robbery outside Clermont on June 1.

The Clermont teenager entered a caravan with a knife, waking up the two sleeping occupants, a 68-year-old woman and a 69-year-old man.

The elderly couple were both injured during a struggle with the teen.

A 74-year-old man in a nearby caravan came to the aid of the pair, helping to force the teen out of the caravan.

The teenager stole alcohol before fleeing on foot.

Police today charged him with two counts of armed robbery with wounding and one count of enter dwelling with intent.

The teenager appeared in Mackay Magistrates Court today.  

The three elderly people were from Victoria and were camping overnight on Laglan Road in the vicinity of Fiery Creek, near Clermont.
