SUPER sedan driver Damien Arnold will need his new car to produce the goods when speedway hits the Rockhampton Showgrounds tonight.

Arnold is nervous about leading the locals' charge as the 2014 Buddy's Fire Service Aaron Smithwick Memorial Queensland Super Stocker title holder.

"I'm pretty nervous. I only raced in the car for the first time last month," he said.

"Being last year's winner places a huge target on my back."

The night will hold special value for Arnold as he lines up in good friend and mentor Aaron Smithwick's purple sedan.

"Aaron taught me to drive and I won my first ever race with him as a co-driver in Gladstone." "It's an honour to be able to race in his car, considering he once held the Queensland title. Hopefully I can bring a win home for him and his family."

Cyclone Marcia put a halt on the 2015 title which will coincide with the Spencer Race Engines Queensland Street Stock Title this weekend.

Late Models, Junior Sedans, Fender Benders and AMCA Nationals will also be raced from 4.30pm.
