Art gallery has a new director

A CONSTANTLY changing art gallery takes a lot of time and hard work.

But Tracy Cooper-Lavery knows she can handle the challenge.

The seasoned curator and art lover is the new woman behind Rockhampton Art Gallery.

She brings a wealth of knowledge to the role, having worked in Bendigo as a curator for 10 years.

Tracy said she was excited to join the team as director of the popular gallery.

"The arts, culture and vibrancy the Rockhampton region has to offer is exceptional," she said.

"The Rockhampton Art Gallery is very fortunate to have an enviable and nationally significant collection of over 1600 Australian, British and Japanese art works; including paintings, works on paper, ceramics, small sculpture and textiles."

And with in-house projects and national touring exhibitions, Tracy will definitely have her hands full.

"We provide a program of workshops... and I look forward to working with the team to continue and further improve on these successful programs," she said.
