Ashby lodges appeal over judgement of Slipper case

BREAKING: Sunshine Coast MP Peter Slipper's former staffer James Ashby has lodged an appeal with the Federal Court over the judgement of his case against the embattled politician.

The appeal comes after a ruling by Justice Steven Rares last month that the sexual harassment case Mr Ashby brought against Mr Slipper was intended to damage the politician's reputation.

As part of Justice Rares' decision, Mr Ashby was also ordered to pay Mr Slipper's legal costs.

Appeal documents were filed with the Federal Court on Friday, with a directions hearing set for the Court early next month.
