Attempted abduction in Rockhampton

NUMBER plate details remembered by the victim of an attempted abduction in North Rockhampton may lead police to her attacker.

Yesterday police said they had identified a male suspect who was wanted for questioning in relation to Sunday evening’s incident.

The 18-year-old woman was walking along Farm Street when a man driving a white Falcon station wagon pulled up beside her and asked if she wanted a lift.

She ignored him and kept walking.

Police said moments later the man grabbed her by the wrist and tried pulling her into the car.

The woman managed to break free and ran away during the frightening attack.

District duty officer Senior Sergeant Neill Smith said after she escaped, the woman ran to the nearby residence where she was originally heading.

Senior Sergeant Neill Smith said when the man tried pulling her into the car, he stressed that he was there to give her a lift.

As of late yesterday no charges had been laid.
