Aubusson gets 'all clear' to join Roosters camp

ROOSTERS veteran Mitchell Aubusson has been cleared and will join his teammates at a pre-season camp this weekend after an outbreak of the mumps threatened to further disrupt preparations for the 2018 Telstra Premiership favourites.

Fresh from the news that five-eighth Luke Keary had suffered a hairline fracture to the jaw, it was revealed by the Daily Telegraph that Aubusson and a Roosters staff member had been placed in quarantine following an outbreak of the highly contagious mumps virus.

Given the close quarters all NRL squads operate under it was feared that Aubusson could infect other members of the playing group but after a period of isolation and bed rest he has been given the all-clear to attend this weekend's camp to finalise preparations for season 2018.

"This is not something that has happened in the past few days. He has passed it now and will travel with the team for their camp," a Roosters spokeswoman told foxsports.com.au.

In containing a potential spread of the disease, the Roosters had their Moore Park headquarters sanitised, with everything from desks, food preparation areas and water bottles treated.

It's been a turbulent off-season for the Eastern Suburbs-based club with the arrival of Cooper Cronk sparking the exit of club stalwart Mitchell Pearce, Aidan Guerra and Connor Watson to join the Knights and the injury to Keary that threatened to throw Trent Robinson's plans into chaos before the season had even kicked off.

The injury to Keary is nowhere near as bad as it could have been and the livewire no.6 is expected to be fit in time to take on the Wests Tigers in Round One.

The Roosters' first trial will be against the Panthers at Panthers Stadium on February 17.
