Australia Day award nominations now open
Nominations are now open for Livingstone Shire Council's Australia Day Awards and this year's Citizen of the Year Arthur Hunt is encouraging locals to nominate.
Arthur was named Citizen of the Year for his tireless dedication to the community, having spent 18 years as a volunteer on the Capricorn Coast.
"It was a great honour to receive this aware when I know firsthand the breadth of our community's generosity," Mr Hunt said.
"There are so many worthy individuals out there from our volunteers to our coaches and our young people who are making a difference in a range of fields.
"If you know someone who makes an exception contribution to the community and in the lives of others, I would urge you to nominate them today," Mr Hunt said.
Arthur is best known for his outstanding work with the Coast Guard and is involved with community events such as Australia Day, Anzac Day, Emergency Services Day and Festival of the Wind.
Arthur spends in excess of 40 volunteer hours a week and is an outstanding role model for all members of the community.
