Australia Zoo ready to celebrate Steve’s wildlife legacy

ON November 15 each year, Australia Zoo invites Wildlife Warriors to celebrate Steve Irwin Day in honour of the extraordinary life lived by the man they called the Crocodile Hunter.

Steve Irwin lived in his khakis and spent most of his life teaching people about nature. Whether he was tossing a venomous snake, wrangling a crocodile or rescuing an animal in need, he wanted people to fall in love with wildlife.

To pay tribute to him and his legacy, the Irwin family is inviting everyone to "khaki it" at Australia Zoo or anywhere in the world this Steve Irwin Day.

The day will encompass all the things Steve was most passionate about - family, wildlife conservation and fun.

Australia Zoo will open at 8am with a free sausage sizzle to kick off a day of activities including a performance by 2013 X Factor winner Dami Im, a giant croc slide, a caricature artist, animal clay workshops, pony rides and face painting.

AFL superstar and Wildlife Warrior Daniel Merret will also join guests for the khaki celebration.

Traditional land owners, the Gubbi Gubbi, will perform throughout the day and visitors are sure to enjoy the smooth tunes from the Blenders.

As always, Australia Zoo will be the ultimate hub for wildlife adventure with the Wildlife Warrior show and feeding of the saltwater crocodiles.

All proceeds from Steve Irwin Day will go towards continuing Steve's legacy by contributing to Wildlife Warrior's conservation programs about which he was so passionate.

People who "khaki it" for the celebration at the zoo will receive a 10% discount on the entry price.
