Austria's new leader just 31
AT JUST 31 years old, Sebastian Kurz is likely to be Austria's next chancellor, making him the youngest leader the country has had and the youngest world leader.
He leads the Austrian People's Party, or OVP, which has flourished under his leadership and on the weekend finished first in the Austrian elections, winning a projected 31.5% of the vote.
Mr Kurz, who campaigned on an anti-immigration platform, has been foreign minister since 2013, studied law at the University of Vienna and completed Austria's compulsory military service.
Having tilted his party to right, the conservative MP is expected to form a coalition with the far-right Freedom Party (26.5% of the vote) rather than the Social Democrats (26.6%).
Mr Kurz was previously a member of Vienna's city council. He is single and dating Susanne Thier, a worker in Austria's Finance Ministry. - INM
